This 1-night, 2-day fly-in safari links two of northern Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Start with a morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha, then travel by road to Tarangire National Park for a full afternoon of game viewing.
Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and the wildlife-rich Tarangire River. During the dry season, animals gather near the riverbanks, creating excellent opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, buffalo and a wide variety of birds.
After an overnight stay in or near Tarangire, travel through the highlands to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera for a game drive among the Big Five, dramatic crater scenery, forests, grasslands and swamps.
June to October is excellent for concentrated wildlife viewing in both parks. From November to May the landscapes turn green, birdlife thrives and the crater is especially scenic.
