Mikumi National Park is a wildlife-rich escape in Tanzania’s Morogoro Region, easily reached by a short flight from Zanzibar. Covering about 3,230 square kilometres, it is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park and forms part of the wider Selous ecosystem.

Your day starts with an early hotel pickup and flight from Zanzibar, followed by a guided 4x4 game drive through Mikumi’s open savannah, woodland and river habitats. Look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, antelopes and a wide variety of birdlife.

After a picnic lunch in the park, continue to wildlife hotspots such as the Mkata Floodplain and Hippo Pools, where hippos and crocodiles are often seen. You then fly back to Zanzibar in the late afternoon and return to your hotel the same day.

The dry season from June to October is ideal for wildlife viewing, as animals gather near water sources. Mikumi remains accessible year-round, while the wetter months from November to May bring lush green scenery and fewer visitors.
